Doublestruck Limited

ExamPro was launched in 1995, followed by the founding of Doublestruck Limited in 1997. In 2012, Doublestruck was acquired by AQA Education, an educational charity, and has since operated as its wholly owned subsidiary.

The business specialises in EdTech solutions that support exam preparation for SATs, GCSEs, and A-levels, using past papers from AQA and the Standards and Testing Agency (STA). For schools entering AQA qualifications, ExamPro is included as part of the overall service package, either free or paid for, with the primary customer relationship managed through AQA Education.

Over the past 30 years, ExamPro and TestBase have been shaped by a wide ranging and dedicated team with a strong educational and altruistic ethos.  It has focused on understanding what the teacher needs, how to make it easy for them, with solutions rooted in classroom practice rather than commercial or technological ambitions. This culture aligns closely with AQA’s values.

Initially led independently by its founder, the business began integrating more closely with AQA in 2020. AQA’s broader strategy now includes building a comprehensive EdTech offering across teaching and learning. This includes developing digital formative/diagnostic assessments and data insights that will complement the teacher’s use of ExamPro. TestBase will be one of the offerings that AQA’s growing Assessment Services business will support in taking to market both domestically and internationally. Primary schools are customers who AQA Education are far less familiar with, nor do they have any current intention to serve.
